How Can Parents Support a Child with Weak Working Memory?
Once you understand the sticky note, the strategies become intuitive: reduce the load, and get information off the note and into the world.
Give one or two directions at a time, and wait for completion before adding more.
Ask your child to repeat instructions back in their own words — this both checks and reinforces the memory trace.
Make it visual: checklists, morning-routine charts, and written homework steps take the burden off the child's mind.
Pair directions with routines. Sequences that repeat daily eventually move into long-term memory, where capacity is no longer the issue.
